One of the newest attractions in
Dubai for residents and tourists alike is the new Ski
Dubai indoor ski resort.
Kept at a reasonable and comfortable –1 or –2
degrees Celsius, Ski Dubai is a chilled haven in the
middle of the Middle Eastern desert lands.
This attraction, set to be part of
the amazing Dubailand (similar to Disneyworld in its
construction), is the size of three football fields
(22,500 square meters) and is covered in real snow year
round. Though
billed as an indoor ski resort, Ski Dubai offers fun for
the whole family. Skiing,
snowboarding, and tobogganing are all welcome, or you
and your family can simply play in the snow in the
interactive Snow Park (the largest indoor park of its
kind at 3,000 square meters).
Never worry about winter clothes or
equipment; Ski Dubai has clothing, as well as ski and
snowboarding equipment for guest use.
And take advantage of the quad-chair lift or tow
lift to take you back to the top after a good run.
Five separate trails are offered, with varying
skill levels. The
longest run is 400 meters with a drop of 60 meters.
Show off on the world’s first indoor black
diamond slope, or, for inexperienced or less experienced
skiers, try the beginner slopes.
Snowboarders might like to make use of the 90
meter quarter pipe, where they can practice tricks.
Inside Ski Dubai, you’ll also
find two “theme” restaurants, the St. Moritz Café
(located at the entrance) and the Avalanche Café (at
mid station). Buy
equipment in the exclusive retail shop, Snow Pro, where
you’ll find knowledgeable staff to help you choose the
right gear, as well as instructors who can teach
newcomers to ski or snowboard.
With a capacity of 1,500 people, Ski Dubai is sure to be a popular
indoor resort, especially in a place where winter is
virtually a dream!
